Rutherford House Reception

Quiet After Dinner Conversations...

After a day of exciting presentations if a light conversation in a timeless and historic environment is how you would prefer to spend your first evening of the Symposium, you are welcome to avail yourself of an evening coffee or drink at the Rutherford House.

This gracious home built in Jacobean style in 1911 has stood the test of time and is a survivor in its own right having the achieved the designation of a Historic Provincial Landmark.  Costumed guides are available for daily tours and the restaurant is known for its fine food, but most of all the ambience of the home provides a rememberance of a time when things were slightly different.  Conversations of scientific discovery held against a backdrop of history are usually memorable ones.

The Rutherford Reception will be held between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM after the Friday Night Supper as an alternative to the Science Roundtable or the Bioethics Panel for which one must pre-register.  The House itself is a bit of an after-dinner stroll (about 7 minutes), but the way is direct and the warmth of coffee and hot-mulled wine will be there to welcome you and reward you for your effort.  Please see the symposium map for easy routes between events.

We hope you'll join us for an evening of good company and quiet conversation.
