The Friday night Welcome Supper will be served at 7:00 PM in the comfortable
University of Alberta Faculty Club (see
Map) after the poster and bar session. It's a 12 minute walk from the
Bernard Snell Hall, so grab your gloves and hat. You can attempt to follow the really not too difficult route through campus marked by the red line, or you can elect for a more linear, if less direct route.
With a view of the Edmonton skyline from the second-floor Harriet Winspear Room, symposium registrants will enjoy a dinner prepared by the excellent chefs and served by the efficient and friendly staff the Faculty Club is famous for. Distinguished guests will be welcomed by
as well as University of Alberta and Capital Health representatives. The bringing together of these important players in Edmonton and Albertan Health and Wellness will leave these leaders in research with an understanding of our commitment to developing biotechnology to improve quality and length of life and leave our guests with a feeling of the warmth of our hospitality instead of our weather. All pre-registered out-of-town guests have reserved seating but there are a limited number of spaces for more local attendees should they wish to enjoy the evening of hospitality. Please ensure you choose this option when you
register.
There are many choices of night spots and coffee houses in the Whyte Ave area and on Campus, but to relax after dinner, something which may appeal to some is the
Rutherford House Reception and
Science Roundtable or, for those in a more philosophical mood, the
Bioethics Panel . All are invited and there is no cost, but space is quite limited so make sure you register your wish to attend when you sign up. Preference will be given to out-of-town registrants.
